King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard

5.0

WARNING THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS. DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE SPOILED.

Well, Victoria Aveyard has done it again and Kings Cage was an amazing third installment. Politics and war are abound in this novel and this time you read the story through three perspectives.

I'll admit that I didn't really remember Cameron and for me her bits were the least interesting. I was hoping for Cal's pov and I feel like with all the time skips her bits weren't really needed as even with them you missed a lot. Evangeline's bits on the other hand were interesting though they numbered few and funnily enough they actually made me like her after hating her for two books.

Now, the Maven stuff...I still hate him. Sorry, I know he went through shit thanks to Elara and I feel sorry that he went through it as a kid. She was a monster. But I can't get over everything he's done and I really do not understand how some people can ship him with Mare after some of the things he's done. On the other end of the spectrum is Cal who I love. He isn't perfect and he doesn't really want to kill silvers but at least he was willing to try to change. In the end he chooses the throne but honestly...he needs to. He has become a stronger person and hopefully a better ruler because of it. If anyone can bring down the red system it is him. Sure, that's not what the Scarlet Guard are hoping for but big changes take time so, maybe his way is better. Mare also needs to go down her route away from him. I think she needs to understand more about these changes and to deal with her anger which is what she wants. In the end I think they could get back together and last.

A girl can dream.

So next book I want more MareCal, more Julian, more Sara, more Evangeline, more of Farley and Cameron's friendship and more training sessions please.
