The Secret History by Donna Tartt

4.0

With a deceptively simple plot, Donna Tartt manages to stretch it out for 600 pages while still keeping it a page-turner with intelligent prose, unlikeable yet well-written characters, and intoxicating friendship drama. The unfolding mystery kept me engaged though it loses a bit of its steam towards the end. It's definitely better than The Goldfinch, though basic knowledge of Greek mythology is definitely needed for deeper appreciation.
