Butter Honey Pig Bread by francesca ekwuyasi

“One cannot abandon oneself, try try try as one might.”
4.5 stars.
I absolutely LOVED this book. The writing was so vivid and impressive and it made me soooo hungry.
It was superbly well done with the story swollen with knowledge/information on almost all the topics mentioned within. The towns and cities weren’t just sites for the storylines to take place in, they were a part of the story and beautifully incorporated too.
I enjoyed how it dealt with the relationship between the siblings and between the siblings and their mother in the face of significant trauma.
The multiple POVs were well done but I must say that Taiye’s was my favourite because it anchored the story best. I got worried at some point that Kambirinachi’s storyline wouldn’t merge well into the twins’s but it merged seamlessly even if a little later that I would have liked.
I can honestly say that I liked the writing of this story more than the story itself but I’m pretty sure if it had followed only Taiye, I would have loved it even more. She was just such a wonderful character and she was written in such a way that I want to be friends with her so we can do hedonistic stuff together
