Book Love by Debbie Tung
3.0
Book Love is a collection of pleasant, often charming comics about what it means to be a bookworm - from spending money you don't have on books to confusing others who don't get how you could find a sad or scary book relaxing. Some comics don't try to be funny but just express unabashed love of reading and the imaginary places it takes you, the imaginary friends you make in the characters.
I thought the comics would've stood up well individually but together as a collection they felt a bit repetitive, and the scenarios and punchlines didn't just feel relatable - they felt overly predictable. So I didn't love this particular book as much as I love some others but recognize it could be a pleasant diversion for some.
