The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
3.0
This was one of those fun, quick, summer beach reads. If you're a regular to my feed here, you know I love my Christina Lauren books. They always write really awesome, sexy, and humorous stories that I can't get enough of, and Olive and Ethan were no exception.
Going on vacation with someone you can't stand sounds like a nightmare to me, but these two definitely made the most of it. They're in an awkward situation, but being each others' company for 10 days means they'll need to resolve their differences as best they can and play nice. After a few days in paradise, make nice, they did.
I enjoyed this story, and it moved fast, so even if I wasn't feeling great, I found myself turning the pages. Christina Lauren books are ones I will order every time without question, and this book was no exception, but with all the stories of theirs I've read, this one wasn't my favorite. While I enjoyed the banter and the tension building between Ethan and Olive, it almost seemed like this story moved too quickly. I also didn't feel like I fully connected with the characters, maybe because I felt like I didn't learn enough about them or their back stories were a little vague or rushed.
Maybe it was because I'm still reeling from reading the After series by Anna Todd, or maybe it's because I haven't been myself for well over a week, but while I liked and enjoyed this book, unfortunately, I just didn't LOVE it the way I really wanted to or usually adore Christina Lauren's work.
That being said, I still think this is a great book to bring with you to the beach, pool, or on vacation if you're looking for a way to soak up the sun and relax.
