Godkiller by Hannah Kaner

3.0

I really wanted to love this one more than I did, as I found all of the elements of the story so interesting. I was grabbed by the beginning, and I had high hopes for my time with Godkiller. Unfortunately, it didn't all quite come together. I think, primarily, this struggles with pacing. It was a relatively short 300 page fantasy that took me about a month to read.

Even when it picks up at the end, I found most of the reveals were pridictable. That isn't something that is bad in and of itself, but because it was also slow, the fact that at the end we got a few character and plot moments that felt almost cartoonishly predictable weighed down the story even more.

That said, my overall experience was saved by the characters and their dynamics. I was invested in them and want them all to be safe and happy. I loved their different relationships with gods and will ultimately read book 2.
