bernard's writing was really vulnerable and honest- I really loved it. I kind of wish I heard it aurally though; this was very much poetry that works really well as spoken verse I think. also this was really good as it showcased Black British voices, and also it actually helped me learn about the injustice of Grenfell and racial justice properly for the first time (5 years later- which is regrettable). this was a collection rooted on the ground, from the voice of a very human person. i like that about poetry- I felt really connected to bernard as a person in their writing because of that.
