Disgusting. Obsessive. Grotesque. I'm in love. At multiple points I found myself rooting for the main character while languishing in his inhumane head-space. A beautifully disturbing read.

Also: the smell descriptions are highly impressive. I found myself more actively perceiving and distinguishing scents irl while reading this book. I find myself re-reading the wood-smelling part the most. Truly delicious
