Masterful depiction of dread, psychosis, megalomania and a load more issues. We really can’t trust the first-person narrator. On the other side - we are better of not trusting anyone involved in the war that is the capital evil here.
Superbly skillful use of repetition creates almost a feeling of chants. The lyrical prose creates distance to the events, but also a short-cut into the mind of our protagonist/antagonist. Not the safest place to be.
