This is definitely a memorable series that will sit with me for a long time. if you love historical fiction and fantasy I think you will enjoy this series. Just keep in mind that this series is really centered on war, violence, revenge and the aftermaths of war which can be hard.

I really loved how complex Rin’s character is and all the other characters. I didn’t root for any one character at all times during this book. They are flawed and make some big errors sometimes but I think I loved how complex those layers were with them.

I liked the Chinese mythology, history and culture aspects to this series.

I think there was some repetition with the series with the war and violence and by the 3rd book I did start to feel like I wanted a conclusion already.

I would recommend the book series if you can handle all of that and I would definitely check content warnings on storygraph. There is a significant amount.
