Margaret Atwood's writing is stunning in all of these, so no single story got less than 2 stars from me, but a lot of them felt too short or too confusing or too obscure to really make an impact.

Life Stories (5⭐)
The writing starts off incredibly strong. This is such an interesting short story that you can interpret multiple ways. It could be someone dealing with gradual memory loss, and slowly losing their sense of self, or it could be someone who is purposefully rewriting their own history and erasing the parts they don't like.

Clothing Dreams (2⭐)

Bottle (2⭐)
Very weird and confusing dialogue between a woman and...a devil? Something else? No idea what's happening here.

Impenetrable Forest (4⭐)
A short story about how there's no magic spell to get you out of depression. Hard to read the dialogue sometimes since the author chose not to use any quotation marks for when characters are talking, but I appreciated this.

Encouraging the Young (3⭐)

Voice (5⭐)
The difference between the image of ourselves we portray to the world, and how we really are. But maybe who we really are isn't wanted at all.

No More Photos (2⭐)

Orphan Stories (2⭐)

Gateway (2⭐)

Again so confusing, like a half-finished thought.

Bottle II (3⭐)

Commentary on the lack of diversity and the gatekeeping that happens to maintain that status quo.

I'm kind of reminded of how some US presidents seem like they accomplish nothing, but then Trump came along and it became clear that nothing was better than the alternative.
