OH MY GOD. new favorite. maya angelou’s writing is honest while also incredibly colorful and bubbly. she has language on her side and knows exactly which words to use to appeal to our emotions (whether that’s laughter or tears). i genuinely cackled at the church scene and cried in other scenes. my mom did the same. she writes so well that i didn’t know this was an autobiography until halfway through. i devoured this book in a day and a half and i can’t wait to read more of her works.
