The Deal by Elle Kennedy
5.0
The Appalachian Bookworm
content warnings: rape (mentions + flashback scene), domestic abuse/violence, injuries related to domestic abuse, explicit (but consensual) sexual scenes
***************************
It’s been a while since I stayed up all night because I couldn’t put a book down, too invested in the characters and their relationships and lives. The Deal by Elle Kennedy had me hooked from the very first page and I didn’t stop until I had read the whole book in one sitting. It took heavily used tropes - fake dating, enemies to friends to lovers - and made them feel new and different.
The best part of the story was definitely the instant chemistry between Hannah and Garrett. Their witty banter will keep you laughing and aching for them to just kiss already. And when they finally give in to the very obvious attraction between them, holy smokes.
I loved that it would take me from fanning myself because of the spice to on the verge of crying to laughing so hard I did cry page by page. This has got to be one of the best college romances I’ve ever read and what makes it even better is hot hockey players! I highly recommend giving this steamy book a read.
