“I hope you summon your courage and you invite your demons to tea, and you learn to listen to all their stories.”

I'm not usually the biggest fan of short stories, but this collection of poetry and fairytale reimaginings really struck a chord with me. The blend of formats worked beautifully, and I always love a good fairytale retelling that delves into what make villains who they are or transforms one-dimensional princesses into strong, complex women.

The feminism running through these stories was fantastic, though I'll admit it started out feeling a bit man-hating, which wasn't my favorite. That said, the tone did shift as it went on, exploring how sweet little boys are taught toxic behavior. This added an important layer of nuance that softened the bitterness.

Overall, this was such a well-done collection, and I'm really glad I stumbled across it.
