I tried really hard to get into this book, it has its promises and I will say that the writing is beautiful and that the storyline is there. The reason I didn't finish is because I felt it was too slow, and I'm not one for a dense historical fiction novel. So please believe that this book may be perfect for you if you like a diverse, sapphic historical fiction novel set in 14th century China.
