An Extraordinary Union by Alyssa Cole

5.0

I'll take this book over Gone With the Wind ANY day of the week. This book has it all: danger, suspense, action, and steamy love scenes.

Elle is a manumitted slave who has become a member of the Loyal League, an African American organization that, among other things, served as spies for the Union.

Her latest disguise? A mute slave. Everything is going according to plan until she meets a handsome man who poses as a confederate soldier, but who is actually a fiercely loyal Union soldier.

Let that sink in.

As their paths cross in a strange twist of fate, their relationship heats up as does the war against the confederacy.

And that's all I'll say without ruining the book.

An excellent read and I'm getting ready to read the sequel, A Hope Divided, right now!
