Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier

5.0

Reading one of Marillier’s books feels like coming home. She is so incredibly talented that I always end up mesmerized and enchanted with her tales.

Is this story we follow Jena and her pet frog through a journey filled with pain, sorrow, struggle but also magic, faith, trust and love. Five sisters end up alone to fend for herself during the dreadful winter, but their worries are not limited to the mortal word. They have a secret and time would prove how difficult is to balance a normal life tinted with the otherworldly.

There’s only one complaint, not enough to affect the rate but still unexpected. I saw everything from the beginning and spend the rest of the book waiting for the characters to realize what was -more or less- in front of them. I can easily look past that little annoyance because the world building is rich, the characters are deep, the writing is superb and the author sets the mood from the first sentence.
I’m telling you, this is art and I’m here for it.
