11/5/24: every time i read this book i go insane

1/1/24: This book! It’s my second time reading it and I loved it even more this time around. What a brilliant start to the year! Maxwell’s writing is just incredible—the characters are all so brightly alive, the plot spins itself out into an effortlessly fantastical web with each new line, and the romance is insane. Angst, slowburn, arranged marriage, AND mutual pining? I’d have to be insane not to love it. Maxwell is so good that my heart was fluttering every time Jainan and Kiem so much as glanced at each other. I’m an absolute sucker for this book and I will be losing sleep over it for the next several weeks.
