The God of the Woods by Liz Moore
3.0
I really wanted to love this, but the uneven writing made it a bit of a slog at times. Every now and then, a random word no one actually says would pop up, like it had wandered in from a thesaurus party, and the occasional cliché didn’t help smooth things over. It was like hitting tiny speed bumps on an otherwise interesting road trip.
The story itself had a ton of potential, but the constant hopping between timelines and characters made it harder to stay hooked.
That said, I still enjoyed it and definitely plan to read more Liz Moore in the future. This one just left me wishing for a little more polish and a little less whiplash.
