Despite having seen a smattering of adaptions to King's work, I've never read any of the original works, so it feels right to have started with Carrie with it being his first published work.

The almost multi-media feel that it has with the excerpts from magazines, books, and reports intermingled with the story itself was definitely unexpected. It gave the story such an interesting feel, and seeing how the truth is distorted or altered based on perception really sold it for me. Carrie's perception of herself influenced by her mother, Margaret's perception of Carrie influenced by her zealousness, Sue's perception of Carrie influenced by her guilt, and on and on. It really was an excellent story on how the world can be irrevocably changed by a misguided perception of someone or a situation.
