Limitless Mind: Learn, Lead, and Live Without Barriers by Jo Boaler

5.0

This is one of those books that challenges everything you thought you knew about how people learn and what people are capable of learning. The author is an expert on this topic and includes so many examples to back up her case that struggle is what really develops are brains and that yes, you really can be good at math, and that collaboration is a really important part of learning. Those are just a few of the lessons that will stick with me as I spread the word about the messages she is trying to get out in this book. Anyone wanting to learn more can read her other books or take online courses from her organization's website. There is even a free class for students to help convince them that yes, they can learn math. I have already recommended this to a friend whose daughter is struggling in her math class. Just by realizing it is possible, we open up our brains to learning. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is teaching or raising kids or telling themselves that they can't learn something.
