Seemed an interesting mystery told in three parts to begin with, but I quickly lost my patience with the leaps in logic required for the plot to work. We're reaching so hard on these drawing interpretations that we're pulling muscles. The mystery "solves" have more assumptions than BBC's Sherlock TV show and that is NOT a compliment. It also relied very heavily on telling us things rather than showing us, which broke immersion on it being a mystery I could logically pick up on. The way the pictures were included also felt cheap, like I was reading someone's bad true crime blog. My biggest gripe also came with the contrivances required to have a woman commit two murders by smashing men to death with rocks and make it home (three hours on public transport!!) without being seen covered in gore. You're telling me she sat on the suspects, peeled them out of their sleeping bags after she was done, and there's no physical evidence? Additionally, the absolute stupidity of a reporter telling someone they were going up the mountain where the murder happened, realising the facts of said murder, and then just GOING TO SLEEP EXACTLY WHERE YOU TOLD A SUSPECT YOU'D BE??? When you've just figured out they might be the actual killer???? Baffling behaviour.
I've no idea why this author is labelled a "mystery sensation" when I've read so many better mystery books. Also it's marketed as mystery/horror when there's absolutely no horror present. I wouldn't suggest it for fans of either genre.
Also side note but I can tell Uketsu is young becauseno 65 year old would think they're too old to get cancer treatment when realistically they've got at least another 20 years(!!) left. Insane character choice.
Extra .5 for the seeds of a story that could have been good in the hands of a different author.
