Leather & Lace by Samantha A. Cole

Did not finish book.

This is NOT a sexy book about bdsm, this read like a bdsm instruction manual.
If you ever want to be completely turned off bdsm and kink in general, then this is for you. I’m a big fan of a well researched book but you have to use all the knowledge you glean and insert it into your book organically. It has to make sense to the plot, otherwise you are just info dumping. I’m pretty sure this author copy and pasted a lot of chapter five right from Wikipedia.
That and the FMC was an innocent, naive, doormat who seemed about 21 years old and yet she was a 30+ divorced romance novelist. And we got so much background info on every single character that was completely unnecessary. Did this author have to boost a word count? Maybe the delete button was broken on her keyboard?
This book was dry as toast and plodded along like an ancient draft horse. The narration was droning and felt like they were just reading a book report out loud. This could be because they had such shit content to work with, as I’ve heard Gunnar before and didn’t find him this coma-inducing.
Yuk. I don’t always rate a DNF, but for this I think it needs to be done so others can be forewarned.
This book is only good for insomniacs who want to read a reference manual on bdsm. Anyone else, run far away. DNF. 18%
