The Tower of Nero by Rick Riordan
5.0
I adore Rick Riordan. It’s wild to think I’ve been reading books about this world since I was 12 years old, nearly 16 years ago. Riordan always does an incredible job with representation. I keep telling everyone his novels just get queerer and queerer the more he writes and it’s incredible. He does it so seamlessly it never seems over done or preachy, these characters just are who they are and it’s so fucking refreshing. Especially in YA/children’s novels. I hope Riordan keeps writing these, I hope he never stops. I cannot wait for the day my kid is old enough to read his series so I shove them at her in all their inclusive glory.
It took me a while to finally finish this one but it was nothing against the book, just me reading it at a bad time. This entire series has been FANTASTIC and I loved loved loved this finale. Riordan wrote the entire thing from Apollo’s perspective which is quite the feat if you know the kind of character Apollo is.
I could also tell Riordan was setting us up for another series in the future and no matter how old I get, or what happens in my life, I WILL read any book that takes place in the Percy Jackson universe.
