I... don't know how to feel about this. This was like a mix of Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and NK Jemisin in terms of concepts, but with none of the genius of either of those references. 
It felt a bit preachy, which I'm sure it hits different if that's what you need to hear, but it kind of felt lazy. Like the author had this great idea and wrote it all down as a draft to edit, except she never went through the draft again because she never actually fleshed anything or anyone out. 
Didn't hate it, but I don't know.. Quite disappointed.
