Breach of Peace by Daniel B. Greene
2.0
The mystery was intriguing at some point, but towards the end, I lost interest. The world building was fine. It didn't rely on too much infodumps but some of the details were unconvincing for me. Characters, for the length of the story, weren't fleshed out enough. I know it's challenging to do that since this is just a novella, but at least I should've cared for the characters. But unfortunately, I didn't. Writing was okay, it was readable and decent for something that was self-published. Regarding the controversy surrounding this book—the main characters acting questionably since they were indoctrinated with this certain worldview—I chose not to go into the details. I'm sure a lot of people have had their fair shares of criticisms, may it be via Goodreads or YouTube vlogs. Check those out if you're interested.
I am not a big fantasy reader, I just read this because of the hype and because I follow Daniel Greene on YouTube (I'm not his biggest fan though). With my generous, lukewarm rating, I'm not sure if I would read the main novel set in this world. But, uh, I'm indecisive so who am I even kidding?
