rant:
it was really great seeing Nesta grow and learn to not hate herself so much. she and cassian working together to train was fun to read about, and how they grew closer and eventuallylove each other.
i will say that the only reason i didn’t like this book more was that the rest of the night court kind of sucked. they freaked out over nesta spending $500 and rhys really kicked into tamlin when he was already at his lowest. on top of that he put feyres life at risk and did exactly what tamlin did that made her hate him: be overprotective and cage her. dude didn’t tell her that the pregnancy could kill her which would then also kill him.
i get that everyone thinks that nesta sucks, but it was also pretty obvious that she hated herself given her behavior at the beginning where all she did was drink herself to death and sleep around. cassian obviously knows what this is like since it’s mentioned often that he has thought pretty lowly of himself in the past, so makes sense thatthey would be together. i would have expected rhys to understand for the same reason of this self hatred, but he has never been nice to her until the end when he showers her in gifts worth hundreds of times the amount of money of his she had squandered a the beginning of this book to warrant the intervention they held for her.
i like that this is basically acotar + acomaf but for nesta instead of feyre and combined into 1 book as well. it gives good building on her character and more insight to who she is and who cassian is too, plus howtheir relationship is forged. hopefully we’ll see what happens next with koschei et al soon.
also i think besides nesta, her valk squad, and cassian, my favorite character by far is the house. absolutely genius to have the house come alive from her powers literally just because she wants a friend.
