Rodrick & Quiet: These Two Were Made For Each Other!

SL Prater has become a new favorite of mine as I loved COURT OF TRICKSTERS. So, I was not surprised at all that I absolutely loved COVEN OF ILL REPUTE.

We are introduced to Liam Rorick, a vampire who doubles as a detective who answers the call of an ex-partner for assistance to solve a murder. A witch named Quiet (love the name by the way). Rorick happens to share a past with mysterious witch, who is harbor strong feelings of anger against Rorick for a past schism. After a witch and vampire (related to Rorick) are murdered, Quiet needs Rorick's help if she is to clear her coven of blame for the murder. The two reluctantly begin a quest to find in a creepy, haunted mansion inherited by Rodrick to solve the murders.

SL Prater has become a new favorite of mine as I loved her COURT OF TRICKSTERS. I was not surprised that I absolutely loved COVEN OF ILL REPUTE. I am a huge fan of Gothic Romance and REPUTE will satisfy that need of the ’dark essence’ you love to feel when reading a good mystery. I loved the gentlemanly-rude Rorick and how dashing he was (old-school term right there but it so works!) and I loved the fire in Quiet (her character a complete oxymoron to her name). The 'enemies to lovers' trope was executed brilliantly, as these two made me laugh out loud at their bantering and savoring the smoldering moments between them.”

I don't want to give too much away about what happens. I want you to go in fresh for this one. But I loved how apologetic Rorick was, and he possessed a teensy-weensy but of the Golden Retriever personality that I have come to love in an MMC. My only discomfort while reading was the inclusion of the presence of ghost clowns (hey, it's a real phobia!) but I won't hold this against the author! Thanks for the warning! There is a definite trigger warning listed at the beginning of this book for the clowns and spiders. so please be forewarned! I ran that red light and am so glad that I did!It added to the eerie feel I'm sure the author wanted to convey!

If you love the 'enemies to lovers' trope, a good mystery, gothic period settings and second chance romance, this is a book that you will devour cover to cover! Awesome read, SL Prater! I look forward to book two and their next adventure!

Happy reading!
