Robertson Davies is one of my favorite authors, and this is one of his very best (in my view). This is the culminating volume of his Cornish Trilogy, which is my favorite from the three trilogies he wrote. Erudite, charmingly written, with engaging characters, sparkling with wit and humor, set in a scholarly milieu--what more could one want? This is my second time reading the trilogy and I plan to read it again in a few years.
