It was the second work I've read by representatives of the "lost generation" (All Quiet on the Western Front - E.M. Remarque - I enjoyed that one a bit more). Given that his style is built on the principle of the iceberg, it made the reading a bit more interesting. I had to concentrate while reading because Hemingway relied on the reader to understand many things from context. Again, it was something new and I'm glad I read the book.
