Earls Just Want to Have Fun by Shana Galen

5.0

The first full novel in the Covent Garden Cubs book really gets off to a great start. We get to learn a little about our bad guy in the prequel, Viscount of Vice (review link below), and he really takes on the roll of a gang leader in this one. We get to really see what a bad person he is and as a result, we really admire Marlowe for surviving the streets for so long.

Now, Marlowe was a very unique character. I think I learned more insulting names in one of her conversations than I have in all my historical reading. I was laughing all the time and I'm so glad that she was as rough around the edges as she was. It made her story so very real and quite convincing. When she is suddenly whisked away into the world of Lord Dane - it's quite a culture shock for everyone.

Lord Dane was a pretentious jerk. He looked down on Marlowe and anyone that was poor - thinking they were a stain on the earth. It was entertaining to watch her slowly change his world views until he does a complete 180. In the end he was a wonderful man and one that I easily fell in love with.

There is quite a bit of adventure in this for a historical romance - which was a very nice change of pace. With the addition of Satin and his street gang, things got really interesting really fast. I can't wait to see what is next in this series.
