Adventures with Darian: A Pirate at (sea) See by JoAnne Longtin-Rames
5.0
In this story we meet Darian. Darian is visually impaired and has a prosthetic eye. Darian is our hero in the story by introducing aids(glasses, patches, etc) to the other pirates.
The author wrote this book about their son. He has monocular vision and they wanted him to see himself as we do-- the hero.
I read this book with my ten year old and six year old. It kept my six year old son's attention. He loved the pirate life illustrations and seeing Darian come out on top despite his obstacles. He adjusted and overcame.
