Like many collections, some of these stories worked better for me than others. I particularly enjoyed His Castle and Gravé of Small Birds, which both made excellent use of place and a building feeling of dread. I was not a fan of the audiobook narration, which in turn I think stopped me from connecting with some of the stories, but also many of them felt more on the shock side of horror, which is not to my personal taste. It was interesting to see a variety of traditions represented, including some southern hemisphere stories.
