BWWM Romance Boxed Sets: The Billionaire Boss's Obsession\That Night with the Alpha Billionaire\The Billionaire's Wife\The Billionaire's Seduction by Viola Black
3.0
I picked up this set on a whim for my fix of short, steamy, campy erotica, and this set did not disappoint. At about 400 pages total, each book being 100 pages/$2 a piece, I'd say that they're fair-priced and read slightly better than a Wattpad story, but still have some editing and plot development cracks that stifle them from being serious erotica novellas, hence the 3 stars. Nevertheless I wanted to share my thoughts on each of the books from highest rated to lowest.
First off, as a general observation, though unrelated the books are basically the same: 'Hot Billionaire falls in love with divorced, hot-headed single mother/high-school sweetheart'. Once you've read one of them, you've read them all. But I digress:
The Billionaire's Seduction: 4/5 stars
Probably the best and most well thought out story to be honest. The plot, characters, everything made me tear up. A newly divorced single mother realizes that her family business is about to go down and be acquired by a Billionaire who also happens to be her ex from college, and the only way she can save it is by seducing him! Cheesy, but it gradually develops, and I really rooted for them to be together. Plus there's lots of sex...always a plus when reading:)
That Night with the Alpha Billionaire: 2.5/5 stars:
Eh, there was nothing bad about this story per se. It's just that the actual premise of the story --her 'night with the billionaire' --doesn't even sink in until the last 2 chapters! I did NOT care about this woman's crippling lack of self-esteem or her no-good boyfriend. I just wanted to get to the point where she meets Ryan. And from there, even the conclusion is dubious.
The Billionaire's Wife: 2.5/5 stars???
Honestly I don't know what to rate this story. This story is about a widowed single Mother who gets taken in by her Billionaire high school admirer after losing her job, while battling bills to pay her son's Leukemia hospital bills. Again, I thought this story had a rather mature outlook like TBS, except Dawnika & Isaiah are less likeable (for separate reasons). But tell me why, halfway in, the story takes the most BIZARRE turn and starts reading like a 'American Spy:KickAss" movie? I started to wonder if the characters were really crazy for each other, or just CRAZY. And the ending just felt so rushed. So...yea.
The Billionaire Boss's Obsession: 2/5 stars
Okay so this one was the "worst". A newly divorced woman finds out that the man she had a one-night stand will actually be her new boss, and a billionaire one at that! This could've made for a promising story, except the guy was SO UNLIKEABLE. He's childish, and crosses boundaries several times, I'd call it more a "violation" than an "obsession". Plus it's all supposedly because of that "one night" they shared together. But the book never really goes into the conversation they had, only that it was "deep", which is hard to believe. So yeah, didn't like the ending.
So in conclusion, the series is more like a 2.75-3. I don't think I'll buy another boxed set but I appreciate the attempt at making a steamy read in under 100 pages.
