Locke & Key, Vol. 3: Crown of Shadows by Joe Hill

5.0

My favourite instalment so far in the continuing saga of the Lockes, living in the creepy Keyhouse in Lovecraft, Mass. In this volume we get a more in-depth look at Kinsey and Nina, and start to see the ramifications of last volume's meddling in people's heads.

We also get two new keys, which felt to me a bit less sinister and more fantastical, with a bit of an Alice in Wonderland feel, than the previous keys. It's weird to say this volume felt lighter than the previous two, given some of the still very disturbing and eerie content, but the bloodshed level was relatively low and there were some funny moments that provided much-needed levity at this point in the story.

Looking forward to seeing how things develop now that Kinsey and Tyler are feeling more empowered, although they still have no idea what they're really up against.
