The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune
3.5
3.5 stars - This book really surprised me. I am primarily a horror fan, as my reading history will attest, and I have had a shaky history with YA and cosy fiction, but this one really hit the right notes - The children are adorable, the adult characters are believable, the relationships feel real as opposed to the floaty, obligatory friendship which can really pervade YA and cosy fiction, and the morals are *incredibly* on the nose, but it's just so lovely that I don't mind it, even if it goes a little bit overboard sometimes, especially near the end.
This book is every bit as lovely as its beautiful cover art by Chris Sickels/Red Nose Studio.
