I wanted to love this book so bad. I wanted it to be a five-star book but it just fell flat for me. It had so much potential. The writing was absolutely stunning and lyrical. The world-building was so solid and well done. We had the start of some really solid characters and character relationships but I was so bored through most of the book and by the time things did get interesting I just was just a little annoyed and couldn't really focus or pay attention because I had struggled to get through this book for so long. It also felt like a lot of the conflict was resolved too easily. I resorted to listening to at least half of this on audiobook just so I could hurry up and finish it.

I did adore Ross' writing style though and world-building so I'm very interested in picking up another one of her books.
