Three-Ring Circus: Kobe, Shaq, Phil, and the Crazy Years of the Lakers Dynasty by Jeff Pearlman

5.0

I picked this up right after I finished Showtime. While some of the characters are the same, the story is not. The Showtime Lakers, while they had their share of friction, came off as a fun, lovable group. The Shaq-Kobe Lakers, by contrast, were successful in spite of myriad personal issues and drama. It speaks to the immense individual talents of the players that they were able to go on a three-peat. Pearlman once again gives us a deeply-reported book that pulls no punches, especially when it comes to Kobe Bryant. Despite the fact that the subject matter in this book (content warning for explicit descriptions of SA) was more serious than its companion piece, it was still a great read that I'd recommend to any general sports fan.
