Urban Fantasy + Dark Academia + M.L. Wang = a combo I didn’t know I needed! The magic system is so cool it’s like coding lowkey. The worldbuilding and lore is so well researched. I really love her prose and the pacing of her books too. Very character - driven, you can tell character work is her strong suit. Sciona is just so real and her flaws mimic mines like and the way the author is able to weave together themes of misogyny, racism, xenophobia, love, religion, academia, home is crazyyyy. I really loved Thomil’s povs too, love how the first and last chapters tie together. ONCE AGAIN IM IN PAIN AND CANT THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE OTHER THAN A BOOK M.L. WANG WRITES!
