The Sandman by Neil Gaiman, Dirk Maggs

5.0

Hooter: Audio Production Rendition of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series collection of stories.

Converting a graphic novel - series of graphic novellas actually into a high quality audio production and still keeping the essence of it all - the fantasy, the horror, the Neil Gaiman stamp - well Audible managed to get that done with Dirk Maggs with some brilliant artists who didn't have to go over the top of the accentuate the greys of the storyline.

As for the stories, it is a super slow start as Dream is imprisoned and his sister Death hates it that he doesn't recognise her concerns part of Preludes and Nocturnes. The momentume picks up with Doll House as Corinthian and Shakespeare make an appearance whilst Dream gets more screen time and the story arcs expand around Rose getting into Dream world and Sandman getting into the action.

Dream Country - not for the faint hearted and trigger warnings in advance. Neil embracing his dark side with that one but he finishes on a high with A Midsummer Night's Dream starring a new boy on the block named William Shakespeare.

If you have done the graphic novels already, you'd appreciate the audiobook better.
