Emotional and challenging fantasy following the wajinru, merfolk who are descendants of the pregnant slave women who were cast overboard on ships. The synopsis alone tells you it will not hold back.
While there is a genuinely thought-provoking message about history and individuality, with a lot of symbolism in actions and depictions, the story isn’t just good for the emotional literary theme, but even taken as the fantastical bones it has a heart-warming set of lovable characters and an interesting world to explore. Short, devastating, and deeply moving.
