The Play by Beth Bolden
5.0
This book has been my most anticipated read of the year. We have been teased and tormented with Grant and Deacon throughout the whole series, I can honestly say it was worth the wait. The story starts off 12 years ago, when they first met. The wanting started back then and when they meet again, this deep longing and wanting is even stronger. The tension is tighter than a watch spring and it is hard to remember to breathe when Grant and Deacon are in the same vicinity. This unique bond between them is undeniable and everyone senses it. The feeling of utter devotion stretches the entire book, nothing dims their sparkle. It really is a book of pure love. There is a narrative alongside these two, the football games and internal investigations, accusations etc. It all adds to the depth of the story. I loved Darcy, she really was Grant's right hand woman and was a leading character. Great to see the ex team members too, it was all wrapped up with an emotional ending. This is undoubtedly my favourite book of the series, and I have adored every book, but Deacon and Grant were always going to be saved till last. They really are so special, I am not even sure I can answer why they are, maybe it was just how strong they had to be to keep themselves apart for so long. Their hearts were so ready to love and they loved big. I am so not ready to leave these two yet, in fact I can't get them out of my head. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
