The Romance Recipe by Ruby Barrett

2.0

Idk why i thought I would like this. Contemporary fiction especially contemporary romance is a genre that rarely ever works for me. I went in expecting a cute and fun sapphic romance, what I got were minimal chemistry and only physical attraction. The characters were only attracted to each other because both were so "hot". There were no tender moments, a lot of smut, and A LOT of miscommunication. Which is a trope I absolutely despise but every contemporary romance HAS to have it idk why. The only thing I liked about the book was the exploration of queer identity which was very well shown. Especially Sophie's bisexual journey was amazing and you could tell it was written by an Own Voices person.
