This book was a jump outside of my genre comfort zone, and I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it so much. Even though it was published a while ago, there was a modernness and a lightness to it that made it feel ahead of its time. For Sci-Fi, it wasn't super heavy with those aspects and that's why I liked it more. I loved the light and funny, sarcastic writing style. It worked differently for each of the characters, but it was so well done. I found myself genuinely laughing out loud at various moments and could easily see why it's a cult favorite read. Some of the timeline was a smidge confusing to me, and there were times when I was pulled out of the book, but other than that it was a reading win. I loved the uniqueness of the world as well as the individual traits of the characters that made them stand out from one another. I wasn't bored while reading and it was a quick-paced story that did keep me entertained the whole time. Some of the elements were so ridiculous, but in the best way, and it's what made the book even more fun for me. Glad I added this one to the TBR and gave it a shot!
