The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made by Tom Bissell, Greg Sestero

5.0

I was so surprised that I enjoyed this so much. After watching The Room, I did not have high hopes for the quality of the storytelling produced by anyone involved in something so utterly, utterly bad. And yet, this is excellent! Funny, fast paced, and so compelling, but in a good way, not like watching a train crash or The Room. Tommy is a real life Gatsby figure, and the relationship between him and Greg is so complex, and it feels very authentically written. I also feel like this book absolutely had to be written to shed even the tiniest glimpse of light into the process that went into making that movie, and I have a lot more compassionate feelings towards the cast and crew now than I did whilst watching it. Fascinating stuff!
