If not for my undying love for Eloise, I would've given this book 2 stars, because Sir Phillip was simply insufferable! GAAAAAHHHHHH! Every time he languished and said I suck as a father and as a human being, I wanted to yank my eyes down, cleanse it, and wish to never read those words again. I've seen eunuchs with more balls than him! But of course, he realized it by the end (as he should) but at that point, my affection for his redemption arc had already disappeared. He left this tiny, bitter scar on my heart that ached for Eloise's future. I wish, like really wish, for her to end up with someone better.
