How to Be Ace: A Memoir of Growing Up Asexual by Rebecca Burgess

5.0

Unfortunately asexuality is still very often forgotten and ignored, and this was a good look into how asexuality feels like and how people struggle with it in the world that is so obsessed with sex. And how hard it can be to fit in when others around you don’t understand how one don’t and can’t want to engage in sexual activities. It’s kind of sad how asexuals used to and still have to think something’s wrong with them because they’re different from others.
The author had to go through a tough time and even physically pushy partners until they found out about this thing called “asexuality” and didn’t feel so bad about themselves anymore. It was a hard journey to finding and accepting their true self and understanding their relationship with their partners, but in the end all was well.
I liked this graphic novel because it was nice to see I’m not the only one who’s like this, and it was also interesting to see the journey of another asexual, since there aren’t that many of us out there.
