Excellent read.
Marghe, a Company anthropologist, is sent to a world with less advanced civilisation and a virus that's killed all men and 80% of women, but children are still being born.
Danner is Company military, and it isn't long before she realises (in a fine tradition of capital c companies) that if the vaccine Marghe carries doesn't work, she and the people she's responsible for are going to be permanently cut off.
What follows is a story of essentially going native, and it's so incredibly well done. I loved it.
