God, I am so freaking annoyed and disappointed with this book. I mean, seriously, what was the author thinking?!?!?

At Any Turn picks up more or less where At Any Price left off and at first everything was fine. The book is entirely from Adam’s POV which started off great and ended up horrible. God, what is wrong with him??? He thinks pretty much in gaming terms and strategy so when Mia starts pulling away he thinks things like, “lure the enemy in with bait”. I’m sorry, what?? Mia is not the freaking enemy, SHE’S YOUR GIRLFRIEND. Geez, no wonder their relationship goes to hell.

I adored Adam in At Any Price but I couldn’t stand him in At Any Turn. He’s controlling, domineering, refuses to open up, and he even hires a PI to spy on Mia at one point. A PI. Yeah, I would have broken up with him too. The worst part is that I wanted so badly to be on his team, to root for Adam and Mia’s relationship but it got to the point where I honestly thought they’d be better off separately and never speaking again. They go in circles for the whole book with Adam getting angry because he’s in the dark and Mia refusing to explain anything to him.

This book was a mess but more than that, it was such a disappointment. I nearly DNF’d but at the 90% mark I thought I might as well finish for the hell of it. Everything that I enjoyed in At Any Price was gone and I am not going to be reading the rest of the books.
