Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
4.0
You know you just read an awesome book when your first thought is "I'm going to miss the characters from this book"...and that's how I felt right after I finished it!
- The book started off with a great hook.. introducing a lone astronomer/scientist who grapples with lost memories on a spaceship. I love how the author switches the screenplay (?) between the current events and flashbacks, unraveling the mysterious situations that led to his current situation.
- When you get to the middle of the book, you'll find a very interesting plot twist where the lone astronomer is no longer alone and he gets help from someone unexpected! A friendship is formed between the stranger and the scientist because they had the same goal...to save planets together! The friendship turns out to be really cute! Lol.
- As you near the end of the book, there will be enough twists to keep you awake the whole night!!
- I loved how Andy Weir adds humour into his sci-fi stories. I laughed a lottt while I was reading at few parts of the book. I felt sad and even cried happy tears at the end of the book. Somewhere at 25% of the book, I felt it was a little dragging but I got invested enough in the book by then to not give up easily on it..
Overall, it's one of the best sci-fi books I've read. It gets a little science-y at times (I enjoyed it a lot since I was a Physics student) but the author makes up for it with his simple language and narration skills.
You won't regret it if you decide to pick this up. ❤️
